Eagles Conclude 2022 Season with Runner Up Finish at NCISAA 2A State Championships at Bryan Park G.C.
The Varsity Golf capped off a great season with a runner up finish in the NCISAA 2A State Tournament. On May 16, the three teams that advanced from the previous weeks qualifier teed it up in a three team race to the State Championship. The three teams, Caldwell Academy, Gaston Day School, and The O'Neal School played a thrilling and tight match that was anybody's to take with only a few holes left to play. After multiple tees time adjustments to try to avoid afternoon thunderstorms, and a short rain delay during play on the back nine, Gaston Day was able to outlast the other two schools on the strength of a -2 under par round by their top player and tournament medalist Seamus Bogan. Caldwell and O'Neal both finished only 4 shots back with team scores of 230.
