Upper School (9-12)

At Caldwell Academy, the Upper School (Rhetoric School) is comprised of students in ninth through twelfth grades. The Rhetoric School is the period in which Caldwell Academy seeks to prepare graduates who will be winsome, persuasive, confident communicators equipped to defend truth in a relativistic society. As the name implies, Rhetoric instruction focuses specifically on the art of persuasion.

Using the Tools of Learning: Listening, Thinking, Reading, Writing, and Speaking Well

Students draw on their accumulated knowledge of facts and logic from the lower and middle schools to exercise and develop skills in debate, apologetics, speech, essay writing, and drama. In addition to providing a thoroughly integrated humanities program that explores both primary sources and the classics, the Rhetoric stage of learning allows Caldwell students to delve deeply into the study of mathematics and the sciences.

Creating an environment for teacher and student relationships to thrive

The cohesiveness of the Rhetoric program allows students and teachers to form solid bonds that serve to develop students intellectually, socially, and spiritually.

Equipping students to lead and serve

Our desire is that Caldwell students will use their education in the service of others and to the glory of God. We provide student life opportunities to further promote intellectual, moral, cultural, physical, social, and spiritual development beyond the classroom.

Producing students who will do justly, love mercy and walk humbly

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and Caldwell desires to produce young men and women who understand the need to live their life under the authority of the canopy of Scripture and who do so with eagerness in joyful submission to God.
