Grammar School Drama
In our Grammar School, our students are encouraged to explore drama in our curriculum through our Living History Days where students dress and experience life from a particular time in history.
4th Grade Wax Museum
Through experiences like our annual Renaissance Wax Museum, students step beyond the pages of history and into the lives of the people they study. Fourth grade students research notable figures from the Renaissance, write and memorize speeches, and present in character to visiting guests. By combining history and drama, these living history experiences cultivate confident communication, meaningful learning, and a deeper appreciation for the people and ideas that have shaped our world.
Drama as an Elective
Drama is offered as an introductory course in middle school (Dialectic), while classes in both on-stage and behind-the-scenes drama are offered in high school (Rhetoric). Students learn many aspects of drama, including acting, improvisation, theater history, technical theater, and backstage skills. Opportunities are afforded each student to discover and develop performance and production skills in a classroom setting.
Drama Productions
Drama invites Dialectic and Rhetoric students to explore storytelling, creativity, and collaboration both on and off the stage. Students may participate as actors or contribute through set design, costuming, advertising and ticket sales, backstage work, and sound and lighting. Auditions are held for each production, and while productions are primarily designed for Dialectic and Rhetoric students, Grammar students are invited to audition for select productions throughout the year.
