Caldwell Academy Board of Directors 

  • Kristin Carlock, Chair

    Kristin Carlock joined the Board in 2010 and currently serves as our Board Chair. “I love serving with these godly, energetic and committed board members,“ says Kristin. She also has a passion for learning and a love for the Lord and Caldwell combines these in a rigorous academic program taught from a biblical worldview.

    Kristin graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.S. in Psychology and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia. She spent several years in the food industry as a marketing executive.

    Kristin and her husband Craig have two children. One is a Caldwell graduate and one will graduate in 2017.

    In her spare time, Kristin enjoys swimming, biking and running (triathlons), reading, and travel.

  • Patty Crossley, Vice Chair

    Patty attended Sullins College and Hunter College and has been married to Jim Crossley for more than 50 years. They have eight grandchildren, six of whom have attended Caldwell Academy. Patty served as a Bible Study Fellowship Teaching Leader for many years.

    Patty joined the Board in 2011 and currently serves as Vice Chair and chair of the Head of School Support Committee. She is a member of the Development and Policy Committee. She also chaired the Head of School Search Committee.

    Patty’s desire to serve is based on a desire to obey the Lord and His mandate. She feels a personal call to Caldwell.

  • Piper Anderson

    Piper Anderson brings a unique perspective to the Board as a former Caldwell parent (her two sons are graduates) and as a current grandparent of a Caldwell student. She also taught P.E. on campus for more than 13 years.

    She married Jeff in 1982 and holds a B.S. degree in Recreational Education from the University of Iowa. She also has a M.S. degree in Individual Studies.

    Piper joined the Board in 2014 because she desires to influence Caldwell to stay on mission and bring glory to God. Her love for the Caldwell community and the desire to stay connected have been of great benefit to her as she serves on the Board. Additionally, Piper sees it as an opportunity for personal growth, both intellectually and spiritually. She chairs the Hospitality committee and serves as the liaison to the Annual Fund Committee. She also serves on the Development and Policy committees.

    In her spare time, Piper enjoys her family. She is a life-long learner and is an avid reader. She also enjoys exercise.

  • Laura Holley

    Laura joined the Board in 2011. She and her husband David have two sons who attend Caldwell. One is a graduate of the class of 2015 and the other will graduate in 2018.

    Although she currently works in fundraising for non-profit organizations, Laura holds music degrees from University of Southern Mississippi and the Peabody Institute of Music. She uses her gifts at the piano to bless Caldwell on a regular basis.

    When asked why she wants to serve on the Board, Laura replied, “Caldwell Academy has been such a significant part of our family for over 15 years.  I simply want to invest any resources the Lord gives me into the future of a place we love.”

    Laura previously served as chair of the Advancement Committee and was a member of the Finance Committee.

  • Jim Kirkpatrick

    Jim joined the Board in 2013. He has previously served on the Finance and Facilities committees and currently serves as co-chair of the Sharing our Lives capital campaign committee. Jim is married to Jane and they have four grandchildren at Caldwell.

    Jim graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in history and formerly served as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch.

    In his spare time, Jim enjoys working in his yard and exploring Civil War battlefields. He is passionate about American History and believes that the past is a gateway to the future. He has served on numerous state, local and regional boards and commissions as well as church elder.

  • John Kornegay

    John Kornegay brings great perspective and advice to the Caldwell Board. John graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. degree in philosophy. He completed his law degree at Wake Forest University.

    John and his wife Julie have been married 39 years, have 8 children and 5 grandchildren. Their 3 youngest children have attended Caldwell.

    John serves the Caldwell community as Co-Chair of the Policy Committee. His love of the Lord and desire to help people leads him to serve on the Board. He joined in 2014. In his spare time, John enjoys hunting, working on his farm, and playing on his tractor with his grandsons. John has served as an elder at The Fellowship Church for 25 years and has received numerous awards for his community involvement.

  • Mike Lapeirre

    After joining the Board in 2015, Mike Lapierre assumed the role of Treasurer. He has a B.S. degree in accounting from UNCG and currently works as a CPA.

    Mike is married to Kim and they have three children at Caldwell. Mike’s desire to serve is out of obedience and appreciation for all the gifts the Lord has given to him and his family.

    In his free time, Mike enjoys the beach, coaching, and family time.

  • Leslie Ramos

    Leslie Ramos fully believes “that God is preparing the next generation here at Caldwell.” Leslie says, “I am both humbled and excited to be included in and a part of His work to help advance His kingdom.” She joined the Board in 2015 and serves as the chair of the Advancement Committee.

    Leslie is mother to John and Noah, both Caldwell students, and is married to Rich Ramos. She holds a B.A. degree in psychology and a M.S. in speech pathology, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

    Leslie serves as a children’s leader in Bible Study Fellowship and she loves gardening in her spare time.

  • Jill Reynolds

    Jill joined Caldwell’s Board of Directors in 2015. She and her husband Mark have 4 children who attend Caldwell.

    Jill’s background is in communications and she holds a B.A in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also has a M.A. in Publication Design from the University of Baltimore.

    She currently co-chairs the Policy Committee and serves on the Development Committee as well. “It has been a real faith builder to see how God is leading the school,” she says. “I am honored to be a part of ensuring that Caldwell stays true to its mission, and it’s a blessing to sit around the table with such spiritual giants.”

  • Michael Spohn

    Michael Spohn joined the Board in 2017. He and his wife Chelsea have two children who are current students and have been at Caldwell Academy since kindergarten.  As the CEO of several companies, Michael brings financial expertise and strategic thinking to the Board with a mindset to guard and protect Caldwell’s mission. He currently serves on the Finance and Facilities Committees.

    Michael graduated with a B.S. in Finance and Economics from UNC-G and also holds a B.S. in Accounting From High Point University. He hopes to enhance the current direction of the school with the goal of recognition for Caldwell as the premiere classical Christian institution.

    In his spare time, Michael enjoys food tours in historic cities as well as coaching lacrosse and spending time in the mountains. He and his family attend Westover Church and are involved in several ministries there.

  • Brent York

    Brent joined the Board in 2013. He currently serves as chairman of the Facilities Committee and provides comic relief to the entire Board. Brent’s desire to serve comes from the Lord’s call to him. He sees God’s hand upon Caldwell and wants to do what he can to ensure that the mission of Caldwell succeeds. He and his wife Cathy have one son who is a Caldwell graduate and another son currently attending Caldwell.

    Brent graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.B.A.  and is an industrial sales representative.

    In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, working out, photography, and hiking. He is currently serving as an elder in his church.
